STEP 17 – MYRRH ESSENTIAL OIL

broken image

Myrrh is best known as one of the three Gifts of the Wise Men at the birth of Jesus. And no wonder: ancient records show that MYRRH was, at times, valued at its weight in gold.

Today, MYRRH is a much-prized Essential Oil.

MYRRH Essential Oil is derived from the gummy resin of the small, thorny Myrrh tree and has been used for centuries for its internal and external health benefits.

It affects the Endocrine, Immune, and Nervous systems, and the skin.

MYRRH Essential Oil has historically been used as an incense in religious ceremonies. While it is known to hold powerful cleansing properties, particularly for the throat and mouth, Myrrh can also be used to support well-being and emotional balance.

This oil can be used safely with all species.

MYRRH is very useful when dealing with discomfort in any animal. It can be used for skin conditions and is also useful as an appetite stimulant!

This oil is also very useful in dealing with emotional issues of abandonment, mistrust, neglect, and abuse, and Dr. Roark uses it with many of her rescue cases for both emotional and physical benefits.

FOR DOGS: Diffuse; apply one to two drops topically along the spine, apply directly over the thyroid for thyroid issues, or at the base of the skull for pituitary issues; and apply topically in combination with Coriander Essential Oil for healthy blood sugar levels. You can administer it internally as well, although generally it is very bitter and not well tolerated this way. Start with one drop mixed with wet food or on a yummy treat, or mixed with 1 mL of water in a syringe or dropper and given orally through the dropper or syringe.

FOR CATS: Diffuse; apply topically directly over the area of concern (diluted or neat, but always start out diluting to determine tolerance); mix into wet food to administer orally (one drop diluted in 30 drops carrier oil and one drop of this blend to start out with; MYRRH can be given undiluted if the cat will tolerate it, although that is generally not needed), or four to five drops mixed with one cup of Baking Soda sprinkled on their litter. For Feline Acne, mix two drops of MYRRH Essential Oil with 15 mL of alcohol-free witch hazel and apply to the chin with a cotton ball twice daily.

FOR EQUINE OR LARGE ANIMAL PROTOCOLS: Apply topically directly over the area of concern; can be given orally as well (two to five drops per 1000 lbs. twice daily). It is particularly useful with injury management.

This oil is helpful post-surgery to help with discomfort and associated anxious feelings as well: diffuse and apply topically. Topical application for oral discomfort due to teeth or gum issues is very useful.

You can diffuse this oil with Frankincense and Lavender for emotional, hormonal, and uncomfortable situations.

This Essential Oil mixes very well with many oils: Lavender, Frankincense, Helichrysum, Sandalwood, and Coriander Essential Oils among the most common.
